Spokane Teams Up with the Native Americans for an Awesome Sports Logo

January 13, 2014
Huge kudos are in order to the Spokane Indians who are the Single A affiliate of the Texas Rangers in the Northwest League. With so much controversy surrounding the name Redskins and with speculation that the Indians will no longer use “Chief Wahoo” as their primary logo, the Spokane Indians are taking a proactive approach.

Back in 2006, the organization worked directly with the Spokane Tribe of Indians to come up with a logo that was respectful of the legacy of the tribe. This year, they will take it one step further as this logo will go from a secondary sleeve logo to the primary logo of the baseball team.

The key to this logo is the Salish spelling of Indians. It’s unique and I can’t wait to get some Spokane Indians gear. This is what a sports logo is all about. This image properly represents the history of the community. This logo was built based on respect. It’s unique and different. We applaud the ownership group of the Spokane Indians for their groundbreaking efforts.  With so much controversy surrounding Native American logos, it’s nice to acknowledge an organization that isembracing the heritage and the community where they play.

Speaking of baseball logos, two of our best selling t-shirts represent “America’s pastime”.  The first is the Idaho Taters. This was actually the first sports logo we designed and it’s still one of our favorites. Idaho is famous for its potatoes and a “Tater” is also the name for a home run. Here’s former MLB pitcher Mike Bacsik wearing a taters awesome t-shirt.

Our other logo is the Boston Accents. Boston is a big time baseball town and the city also boasts one of the strongest accents. We thought it was a perfect combination. Here’s Boston native and former Dallas Cowboys lineman Marc Colombo showing off his favorite Boston Accents t-shirt

Don’t forget, you can always pick up both shirts as part of our t-shirt of the month club.

Thanks as always for reading,
